Recent data confirms what we really knew all along–Americans want quality customer service and they’re willing to reward businesses that provide it. Echo Research/American Express reported the following:

 *           61% say in this economic environment, quality customer service is more important to them

*           Americans will spend 9% more with companies that provide excellent customer service

*           24% of Americans believe companies value their business and will go the extra mile to keep it

*           37% believe that companies have increased their focus on providing quality service

*           27% feel businesses have not changed their attitude toward customer service

*           28% say companies are now paying less attention to good service

 *           Most consumers feel businesses can do more to retain their loyalty:

             *           48% feel companies are helpful but don’t do anything extra to keep their business

            *           21% believe that companies take their business for granted.

We try to buck the trend by providing service excellence to our dealers, and to consumers who purchase our products. Please let me know what we can do to continue to improve our efforts in this critical area.

At our annual sun room dealer meeting, Ray Hepp, owner of Betterliving of Pittsburgh, earned an award for personally sellling more sunrooms than any other single person in the entire sunroom dealer network.  So I wasn’t suprisied to receive a copy of the following note from one of Ray’s homeowners.

It is a rare find these days to encounter a company conducting business as professional and proficient as Betterliving. You need to be commended because it all starts at the top. From our first design appointment with you, to Terry and his crew building the room, to Dee in the Service Dept., and Carl repairing the trim on one of the transoms, they have all been such positive experiences. GREAT NEWS!  Betterliving Sunroom roof panels have been awarded the coveted ENERGY STAR®!!  This means that effective today, all PanelCraft® roof panels manufactured by Craft-Bilt Manufacturing Company and used in Betterliving sunrooms will be eligible for the energy tax credit. I’m proud of our engineering team who did the work to put our panels through the rigorous testing regimen required to achieve the ENERGY STAR qualification.

I’m always happy to hear from satisfied home owners who choose our sunroom! A homeowner from Nashville sent us this message:  “Thought you might be interested in pictures of the final product. We’ve been enjoying our new sunroom – only had a few days this winter where it was too cold to use.”  With home prices stabilizing, more people are thinking about improvements that increase their quality of life, save energy, and improve the look and feel of their homes.  I am happy to see that sales of Betterliving sun rooms are up this month…and look forward to a strong year.  I thank the happy consumers like this family in Nashville who decided that adding a sunroom was the right choice for them….

Yesterday, the Canadian National Research Council published a scientific report, which concludes: 

“Exterior insulating rollshutters and close-weave screens are the most effective shading devices to reduce the house heating and cooling energy use, the on-peak cooling power demand, and the risk of moisture condensation on the interior surfaces of windows. They were also shown to improve the thermal comfort conditions near windows (e.g., window interior surface temperatures are several degrees higher with rollshutters than with typical interior blinds).”

The decision to invest in a new color for Betterliving Patio Rooms was made to compliment the architecture of newer homes. Research shows that homeowners consider major home improvements when they have been in their homes for five years.  The Earthstone hue came into use in prime windows, siding and gutters in new home construction recently, replacing the predominance of white and tan finishes. It is a close match to Terratone – a trademark of Andersen Windows.

When adding an outdoor room or enclosed porch, homeowners prefer to maintain the color scheme of the house.  With the introduction of Earthstone, Betterliving Patio and Sunroom dealers expect that consumers who have preferred a color matched product will have a renewed interest in adding a sunroom.

Groundhog Day came and went and it is snowing all over the place.  Lucky are those who can sit and enjoy the snowfall from inside their Betterliving patio room!
